Timp Caves

So my mom decided that we would have a Stay-cation for Memorial day weekend, here is our first adventure:
Yesterday, my family, the Rumfields (our family friends) and I went and FINALLY hiked up to Timpanogus (sp?) Caves. When we arrived at the bottom of the canyon, it started to drizzled, regardless, we had a picnic. It was yummy. After visiting the visitors center and the gift shop, we began our hike up the mountain. Even though our appointment at the caves was at 3:50 we began our hike at 1:15 due to restless kids and alot of time to kill(the guy who gave us our tickets reccomended that even slow hikers should start at 2:20). Because we had so much time to kill, my dad picked up a trail guide which talked about the plants, rocks and wildlife you would find on the trial. That guide combined with our many drink and resting stops landed us at the entrance of the cave at 3:30 ish. Only the Millers could make a mile and a half hike so long. . . wow. I guess we did have little kids though (on the rumfield end) so it really wasn't that bad. Dallin (the rumfields youngest, probably fourish in age) was so hilarious the entire hike. He waved at people far down the trail, talked about how dangerous the cliffs were, etc. Occasionally he would just stop on the trail, lie down, and insist he needed to rest. He had us all busting up. He is a truely funny individual. Any who, we ended up having our appointment bumped up early due to no shows for earlier appointments.
The cave itself was pretty dang cool. All the early explorers had a ton more guts than I do. I mean seriously, plunging yourself into a pitch-black enviorment, untouched by man, with no idea what lurks below .... even the thought gives me chills . . . Any who. . here are a few pix to mark the highlights of the adventure. Oh and just so you don't have to wonder, the hike down took like half an hour. . . pretty small compared to our two hour and fifteen minute climb.

The lake ... Ooooo AwwwwwSorry Kass, no towers here!
Me and my sis.

I looked out the window and what did I see? Oops. . . no tree.
AHH! Don't stab us all!

The heart of Timpanogus!

Overall, I had a lot of fun. I like hiking, so this was right up my alley . . . pretty much.
